A wall, and nine ways to fill it

The wall is usually the last thing anyone finishes. The sofa arrives, the shelves go up, the room is basically done — and then there is a large blank rectangle above the bed that stays blank for two years, because framed art is expensive, slow, and sold in one size that is never the size of the frame you already own.

wallnine exists to make that a weekend rather than a project. Buy the file, print it at home or send it to a lab, put it in the frame that is already sitting in the cupboard. The nine in the name is the gallery wall — the grid of nine that turns an awkward stretch of plaster into the best thing in the room. We design in sets for exactly that reason, and price so hanging nine is a real option rather than a fantasy.

What we sell is a bundle of print-ready files, not a single image: the same artwork cut to the common frame proportions, prepared at print resolution, ready to print without opening anything more complicated than a print dialogue. One purchase covers the A2 frame and the 16×20 frame, because those are genuinely different shapes and finding that out at the framing counter is nobody's idea of a good afternoon.

The catalogue is small on purpose. Everything here has been chosen, sized and test-printed rather than poured in by the thousand, and it is built in ranges that hold together on a wall — quiet chocolate and cream, boho neutrals, something loud for a child's room, something calm and coastal, something bold enough for a classroom. Five rooms that do not agree with each other, which is why the shop itself keeps out of the way: plain paper, hairline rules, and no colour anywhere except the artwork and the buy button.

And because it is a file, none of the usual nonsense applies. No postage, no delivery address, no minimum order, no stock to run out, no landfill at the end of a season. You print what you want, when you want, as many times as your licence allows — which for almost everything we sell means: as often as you like, for as long as you live somewhere with walls.
